CALVARY

CALVARY

Calvary is the name of the hill near Jerusalem on which Jesus was crucified. CALVARY also had other names, in Latin it was called the place of the skull, probably because of what it was famous for, an execution site, many had died on it's grounds, but on this famous day at Christ's crucifixion, the name of the place Calvary was to begin to have a worldwide positive impact for generations to come as the place where the liberty of the entire creation from the grip of sin and death would commence. It was also called GOLGOTHA (Mark. 15:22).

The word calvary is rightly used this days as a form of salvation. If an army were at a battle front and they seemed to be overtaken by their opposition, it is probable that a call would be made to their base station for what is called "the Calvary" to be sent in. The Calvary in this case would mean another batch of perhaps higher qualified and skilled soldiers who would come in to help salvage some kind of victory from the battle. At the entrance of this Calvary, the opposition would surely be afraid because of the huge threat the Calvary would pose to their stance in the battle.

I believe that the fact that Calvary was on a hill holds some importance for us to learn from. Calvary is not ordinary,  Calvary isn't a place without some form of hierarchy. Before the soldiers call in for "the Calvary", they are usually convinced that "the Calvary" coming in are stronger and would get the job done, entirely defeating the enemy. Imagine if the Calvary were called in they were also beaten blue black, of what benefit was it in calling them then? At Calvary, there is power, power to deliver, power to set free, power to break the yoke of sin, power to function in all that the Lord has called one into, all encompassing, all round power (John. 1:12).

For Christians, those who have received the full gift of JESUS for them at Calvary, Calvary is a place holding such great importance. Calvary is our place of salvation. If not for the events that occured at Calvary, we wouldn't have any privilege to be called children of GOD neither would we today have any access at all to the FATHER. In short, we would all still be left in the dark, shut out from the innumerable blessings set aside for us in GOD, the devil would have still had many fun filled experiences against our lives, but at Clavary, we gained back power to trample upon forces of darkness in whatever forms they exist.

From the garden of Eden, man refused the instruction given them by GOD and decided to disobey causing the whole human race to be born into sin, making us become aliens to our GOD, a condition that the Lord himself wasn't comfortable with, so he hurriedly made a way of escape that for as many that would believe in the Lord JESUS would be saved, brought back connected to Him.

Good as this plan was, the penalty for the sin of man still had to be paid, in this case the blood required was that of a lamb without blemish, one whom wasn't born after the normal natural order of man, one who in Him was found no guile, it is His blood that would be shed for all men to be reconciled back unto the FATHER. He came amongst the people but since they always expected salvation by some exalted dramatic form, they didn't ever believe that the one meant to save the whole world would be born in the most humble place - a manger, so after it all, they sought to kill him and so they did, leading Him to be crucified upon a hill just outside Jerusalem called the place of the skull where many had surely fallen in the past.

Now, little did they know that this was the way He would bring salvation to the world, little did they know that it was by Him dying that the sins of the whole world would be forgiven, certainly if they had known, instead of killing him, the devil would have preferred to keep Him alive (1Cor. 2:8). His blood was shed, our remission was complete, He resurrected and reigns forever (Rom. 3:25)...HALLELUYAH. The FULL PRICE for our atonement was paid at Calvary, all hindrances to the throne of Grace was demolished, pulled down flat to the ground there at Calvary. Wonderful incomprehensible restoration of the rapport we had with the FATHER.

All this being said, at this point in time in your life, what do you rely upon as Calvary to save you from the sure onslaught of d devil so long sin exists, what is the source of power you depend upon for sustenance, where do you go to ensure you don't keep on being a servant to the devil. One thing is sure and it is that it is only for those who take their time to find the Lord JESUS at Calvary, accept His already completed sacrifice for them, that are truly saved. They alone have help, they alone can reign forever with the FATHER.

This call is to you today, what exactly are you waiting for, leave it all behind and remind yourself of that which truly matters - salvation at the cross of Calvary. It is for you that He was CRUCIFIED, it's exactly for your course that He DIED, that you might be free from the power of sin and death is why He was BURIED, that you might enjoy life eternally, He RESURRECTED and He ASCENDED, sitted at the right hand of the FATHER in glory, ALL THIS JUST FOR YOU.
