HARVEST
Genesis 8:22 - "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."
The season of harvest is the season of gathering ripened crops; specifically, the time of reaping and gathering grain. During this season also involves the process of gathering the ripened crop;
Whenever anyone goes to a piece of land, applies some form of effort to till the ground, plant his seed, and consequently monitors the growth of the plant until it becomes big enough to be taken out of the ground to be either sold for profit or eaten as food. The stage at which one takes it out of the ground is the harvesting stage. In this write up, I would really like to separate and distinguish the various forms of a harvest. How it still is an harvest when one performs an action and receives the reward of such action whether good or bad and also the eventual harvest of Souls coming up at the end of the world.
It is also worthy of note that if there was no effort applied in the process of sowing/planting, there would not even be an expectation during the season of the harvest. A seasoned farmer dies and his land is willed out to his first son. When the season of planting comes, this son folds his hands and assumes that this was the same land that bore hectares of corn last season so it should be able to do same this season, but he was greatly disappointed when the season of harvest came through and his priced land was a home for weeds. A sowing always preceeds a reaping. (Psalm. 107:37)
Galatians 6:7 - 8 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."
In this world we all are sowing seeds. While some are sowing unto righteousness, others are sowing unto death. God however know what you sow and HE is definately going to pay back in the deserved currency. Now, it is very very important that no man is deceived into thinking that there may really not be an harvest after he has planted a seed, performed an action or that much anticipated harvest of souls, because an harvest will always comes through. The difference would simply be in the varying quality of the harvest. (Psalm. 85:12, Psalms.126:5-6.) Good seeds yield good harvest, bad seeds would always bear a bad harvest. If you sow corruption, you yield corruption and vice versa.
Hosea 10:12 "Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you."
Whilst the people of GOD planted in their seasons, various instructions were given them on how they were expected to go about their season of harvest. Lev. 19:9-10 says they need not glean their vineyards neither clear out all the grapes available at harvest just so that the poor and strangers could have something to eat when he passes by. Deut. 24:19-22 also gives the same instructions further including that if a sheaf of grain is forgotten behind in the field during harvest, it should not be gone back for but be left behind for the poor and strangers.
Galatians 6:9 "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."
There is also a harvest of souls which involves reconciliation of the lost back unto the FATHER. It simply implies going out into all the world in line with the instruction given us by the Lord JESUS to bring every lost soul back to a relationship with GOD, seeing that this is the highest desire in the heart of the FATHER, that all men be drawn unto Him.
Matthew 9:37-38 "Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest."
There is no doubting the fact that there are still a lot of us human beings roaming the face of the earth today who do not know the Lord JESUS neither have they ever come to experience the love of the FATHER towards them. It becomes our grand assignment to go into the field which is the entire world in this case and seek to bring men back unto GOD.
Now this assignment though easy is very important. I say easy because all that would be needed on this harvesting course is already being made available unto us by GOD. Ours is just to receive His call and venture out. Letting men come to the realization that JESUS died for them, paying for their death penalty and He calls out to them to experience His love whilst here on earth the more simply by believing in Him.
John 4:35-36 "Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together."
The season of harvest is always meant for harvesting. Now a serious error could be made if such a season is used for something else besides taking in an harvest. The already grown crops could become food for wild animals and pests spoiling the hardwork prior put in place by the farmer. Hence, except shame is the grand desire of the farmer, when the season of harvest comes in, no sleeping is permitted until all the goods have been brought in. (Prov. 10:5)
A man sowed good seeds on his land, the enemy then sneaked in and planted weeds amongst his good seeds, as they began to grow together, his servants noticed the marked difference and reported it to him. They suggested going ahead to pull out the weeds from the ground but the master said they needed to wait, citing the possibility of pulling up the good plant as they pull out the bad ones, so they should allow both plants to grow together side by side, then at the day of harvesting a separation would be done, the weeds packed up and burnt in fire while the good plant stored in the barn. (Matt. 13:24-30)
This narration by our Lord JESUS is true of the condition of the world. The good seeds are those who are children of GOD while the bad seeds are those are sons of the devil. Many people question today and ask, why doesn't GOD just simply take away, destroy every evildoer? This here is our answer. We would live and exist together here up until the day of our final call, when the Lord would come for the final harvest of Souls of the beloved. (Matt. 3:10 - 12, Luke 3:15 - 17, Rev. 14:15 - 20, Luke 10:1 - 12, Matt. 9:35 - 38)
So the question today for you to diligently answer is, am I truly preparing for the final harvest of souls? Am I reconciling men back unto the love of the FATHER? Am I sowing seeds of righteousness or seeds of death knowing that for every seed sown, a harvest would not fail to be.
GOD BLESS YOU.
