WISDOM
Wisdom could be explained briefly as a body of knowledge or experience that develops within a specified period. It is also the quality of being wise.
A wise person is one whom has acquired skills and knowledge over time and is now able to put such knowledge into use in order to overcome a set of challenges.
Now, wisdom varies and could equally be of different sources. There is a wisdom of the earth and another comes from on high. That of the earth is that acquired from the knowledge of men while that from above is that which GOD gives.
Worldly wisdom refers to the wisdom obtained from human nature through experiences over time. Examples include cheating in exams, theft, premarital sex and adultery. In 1Cor. 1:20 & 3:19, the wisdom of this world is classified as foolishness, so it's probably advised to desist from such wisdom in leading our lives.
In this post, we would be focusing the more on the WISDOM FROM ON HIGH. Wisdom from on high refers to divine wisdom, the type that GOD dispenses to His people to enable them overcome the challenges of this life and come out on top, successful.
A confident benefit that we pretty much profit from as children of GOD remains that He would always be with us and He would never leave us and we can be sure that He would always remain faithful. If this is true, knowing that He gives us wisdom, wisdom to understand His ways, His precepts, His view on things and He by His wisdom directs us through the Spirit of wisdom- the Spirit of GOD so we are enabled to do His will at all times of our lives.
A school of thought these days believe that one has to be "wise" in the ways this world does its things and also follow suit if one is to make "head-way" in life, quoting "if you cannot beat them, then you join them", but I say NO to that because the wisdom of this world is foolishness, so I'd rather prefer divine wisdom and stay truly wise and successful in life, business, ministry and family .etc.
Scriptures are loaded with examples of men who acted with the wisdom of GOD and did great exploits. Bezaleel obtained GOD'S wisdom for secular work (Ex. 31:1-5), Joshua and Solomon received GOD'S wisdom for leadership purposes (Deut. 34:9, 1Kings. 3:6-14), Daniel for insights to revelations (Daniel 2) and Stephen for ministry (Acts. 6:10).
Less really needs to be said about the benefits of having divine wisdom as they include Blessings (Prov. 8:34), Ability to exceed folly (Ecc. 2:13), Life (Prov. 3:16,22), Favour (Prov. 8:35), Strength (Ecc. 7:19), Happiness (Prov. 3:18), Less work, more profit (Direction - Ecc. 10:10), Peace (Prov, 3:17), Riches (2Chr.9:22-24), Grace (Prov. 3:22).
Now, having understood that the wisdom that the Lord gives is very important, next point of call should be knowing how to access the Spirit of wisdom and how our lives can be led by His understanding leading us into all forms of success in this life and eternal life thereafter. (John. 17:3)
Firstly as a believer, you need to have the fear of GOD in all that you do, this leads you to seek GOD'S path and direction before doing things (Job. 28:28, Psalm. 111:10, Prov. 9:10), next step is to ask or seek for godly wisdom (James 1:5, 2Chr. 1:11-12) and to also know without any reasonable doubt that GOD gives wisdom, (1Kings. 4:29-34; 5:12, Luke. 21:15, Ecc. 2:26) so you going to ask it of Him, there should be confidence in your asking knowing that He would give liberally.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 cautions that however wise we eventually become, let us not glory/boast in this wisdom but to rather glory in the fact that we know and understand GOD and His ways, because eventually, 1 Corinthians 4:7 declares "For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?"
In conclusion, Christ is the wisdom of GOD (1Cor. 1:24)
GOD BLESS YOU.
