TRUST
...A belief that someone or something is reliable, good, honest and effective.
...An assured reliance on the character, ability, strength or truth of something.
...A dependence on something in the future or contingent (Hope).
...A confidence in or reliance on some person or quality.
...To place confidence in; to rely on; to believe.
...A firm belief in the reliability, truth or ability of someone or something.
The word TRUST seems an all encompassing word which entails/ consists of so many factors.
Before trust can be rendered or committed to someone or something, a prior knowledge of the ability of such person or thing to fulfil the task is readily available.
Mostly in life before major decisions are taken, some form of trust must have been rendered.
For instance, before you give a tailor your cloth material to sew a certain design for you, it could mean that perhaps because you had seen such designs on someone else, liked it and made enquiries about the tailor.
Also in the selection of a life partner, trust is involved because in the days when doubts would want to arise, it is trust that would help one to overcome.
So also in businesses especially in enterprises where partnerships or acquaintances are necessary, if trust is absent or abused, then the business faces shipwreck.
All of these information brings us to identify the fact that just before you place your trust on anything or anyone, be diligent enough to know it’s capacity because your ignorance could make or mar your destiny and fulfilment.
The whole of the scriptures has tens of references which speak of the credibility of our GOD, so why not. (2Sam. 22:3;31, 2Kings 18:5, Psalm. 5:11; 125:1, Prov. 16:20).
Having said all of that and how true it is, Psalm 146:3 instructs “Put not your trust in princes nor in the son of men in whom there is no help”.
Many attimes, this usually is our state of mind, placing our trust/ confidence in men or rather princes (i.e. able-men, whether in strength or purse).
We would prefer to trust a well muscled man as our “security” following us from place to place or rather we rely on the number of “zeros” behind the figure in our bank account believing that they would save us in times of trouble.
Permit me to say friends that these could disappoint with the same degree/magnitude at which you trusted them by. (Psalm 20:7 – 8)
Prov. 3: 5–6 shows a better way out which is by trusting in the Lord with all your heart and equally in virtually everything that you have and differ sternly from leaning on your understanding and in all your ways honor Him and your paths are sure well guided.
Finally friends, “For he who trusts in riches shall fall…(Prov. 11:28a)”, but “…whoso puts his trust in the Lord shall be saved (Prov. 29:25b)”.
GOD BLESS YOU.
