AND I ONLY AM ESCAPED ALONE TO TELL THEE

First stop, may this evil report never be ours in JESUS name.

This evil report had Job in quadruplicate form (Job. 1:15, 16, 17, 19).

It's safe to assume that even after receiving such news about twice, one is permitted to let loose and mutter aloud all kinds of jargons both against GOD and whatever imperfect systems that led to the situations.

We mostly are familiar with the story of Job, a man that GOD himself declared a perfect and upright man who fears GOD and eschew evil, against whom the devil received permission to try his devotion to GOD in order to confirm if he were just godly because of the rosiness of his life, family and business or he just truly loved GOD.

So in quick succession, such that before one evil report of "AND I ONLY AM ESCAPED ALONE TO TELL THEE" had concluded, the next evil report had commenced, in short all that Job had was lost all within a very short span of time and this disaster included the demise of his 10 children (7 sons and 3 daughters).

These children of Job had a ceremonial norm of rotating parties at each brother's house and they were at it once again, this time at their eldest brother's house when a wild wind came, smote the four corners of the house and collapsed upon them, killing them all.

Now, it is common knowledge for every normal human being to be sad and unhappy whenever evil occurrences befall them, same also we read about Job, how he rent his mantle, shaved his head and fell down to the ground. Many sane people would probably do likewise after receiving such news but I believe the question still remains, really how many people would truly begin to worship GOD at that instance as Job did and would not preferable choose to wail, complain and even worse still curse GOD for permitting such things to happen.

It's then you begin to hear men roll out their godly/ spiritual credentials, "Ahh GOD, me that I pay my tithe, sweep the church, give alms, pray every day, win souls per hour etc", as if all the good works they do towards GOD is like a down-payment one makes to an insurance broker.

Even though this good works were the norm for Job in his day as he did this daily, yet he still never spoke ill against GOD rather he worshipped.

He worshipped understanding that all things came from GOD and to HIM all things return.

After all these mishaps and Job still didn't curse GOD as the devil had earlier predicted, chapter 2 then shows us how the devil went on to request the torment of Job's body as a means to break his resolve and lead him into cursing GOD and perhaps cursing GOD and dying would have been a logical thing to do as concluded by Job's wife after his body was inflicted with all sorts of diseases (vs. 9) but Job still didn't sin against GOD.

Oh how much we need to trust GOD as much as Job did, things would really be much better with us as Christians.

Jeremiah 29:11 assures us that the plans the Lord has for us at each and every time of our lives are good and not of evil, so no matter the circumstances we find ourselves in, our utmost trust should remain in God that what He has promised, He is sure to come forth good on it.

So what has GOD promised about the situations you find yourself in presently??

Find that out and trust Him for the very best.

GOD BLESS YOU.
