WHERE IF SLAVE DRUMS
Though a drum could serve as an instrument for entertainment, it surely could serve as an instrument for instruction too. When drums are beaten in my country, the beats of the drum dictate the rhythm of the dancers and even mostly the thoughts in the hearts of its listeners.
Consider the Talking Drum which is rather famous amongst the Yoruba culture in south-western Nigeria, even though on its own this drum doesnt seem to have any special voice which relates to any language, but when beaten, the drummer beats the drum in such a rhythm that men begin to understand the words intended by the drummer and as a form of response act on these words. Same also goes for a jazz drummer which has similar effects on his audience captivating them into a rhythmic dance movement as is popular with jazz music.
All in all, the drummer somewhat has a consciousness of his audience at his disposal.
A slave is one who is under the rule/ authority of another and this ruler/ Lord is most times always greater than the slave in all ramifications. Whatever the Lord dictates/ orders is what the slave is permitted to do all through his life, nothing else. A slave could be downtrodden, defeated, molested and would still yet be subject to his lord. The slave requires utter permission for every step/ action he is to take throughout his life and would never act outside the permissions granted if he doesnt want to face the full wrath of his Lord.
Now even in slavery, there are hierarchies, these ranks are determined based on the discretion of the Lord or on some previously laid down principles. The devil and sons of disobedience fall under the category of slaves with satan been the highest ranked officer amongst these slaves of disobedience. His demons and agents equally have their ranks in their orders. There is really no doubt to the fact that the devil is a slave. Rev. 20:3 confirms this because you cant really bind up a Lord, only slaves could be bound, shut-up and cast into prisons.
Having established that the drummer holds a consciousness of his listeners to ransom and is obliged to do as he pleases with it, sometimes making the audience happy, excited and joyous and other times influencing their minds leading them to do wrong (for example the drums played for masquerades).
Now if the devil, that old serpent had a drum to beat in order to influence his listeners, how really would he beat it. One quick answer would be that his interest to mislead mankind away from the love of GOD would have just been enabled because the rhythms that would surely emanate from his instrument would lead to dead works, leading his audience farther from life.
Why do we encourage holy living, its simply because the devil keeps beating on his drum so ferociously and with impunity giving out various rhythms to ensure death but if you are not an audience to his play, then you are set free from its influence.
Gal. 5: 19-21 speaks of the consequences or rather of the works/ fruits that show forth as a result of being an audience of the devils drum play in ones life and such works are made manifest/ obvious.
We would list them in no particular order:
Witchcraft
Heresies
Envyings
Revellings
Emulations
Idolatry
Fornication
Seditions
Lasciviousness
Adultery
Variance
Enmity
Drunkenness
Rage
Uncleanliness
Murders
Strife
Just take the first letter from each point in the above list and what you have spelt out says "WHERE IF SLAVE DRUMS"
When the slave, the devil dictates ones life, these acts are made manifest and the individual becomes one under the authority of the devil and this continues on until a higher authority in the person of JESUS CHRIST comes to deliver such a life from the rule of the devil and in bringing such person up, He raises him to a position far above his former captor, the devil and then enables him to reign with JESUS in glory . . .HALLELUYAH. . .
At this point, please dont be quick claim freedom from the drum-beats of the devil if you are not in JESUS CHRIST and also dont claim another way unto GOD for there remains only one way whereby we must be saved (John 14:6).
Now we can see what true liberty we enjoy in CHRIST JESUS. He did all this for us and all we had to do is to believe in HIS finished work for us (Rom. 10:9) and we leave being captives to being gods and sons of the most high. (Psalm 82:6).
Friend, perhaps today you can identify the rhythm of the drum-play of the slave (devil) in or upon your life and you sure would prefer it stopped so you could reign with the Father; you need to say this prayer in faith. . . Lord JESUS, I thank You for my life, then, now and always. Thank You for You had me in mind when You died on the cross of Calvary for my sins. Today, Lord, I accept Your gift of salvation for me, I believe and accept that You were crucified, died and resurrected for me, cleanse me of my sins, make me more whiter than snow, I today become a SAINT through the righteousness of JESUS. . .HALLELUYAH. . . I henceforth receive grace to please You in JESUS name I pray. . . AMEN”
