SALT

SALT

Being a chemist by learning, we define a SALT as the product formed along with water from the reaction of an acid with a base. A familiar example of such SALT is common salt, Sodium Chloride (NaCl) used for household purposes.
SALT is a very important ingredient used for seasoning foods. Among most human cultures, any food that is prepared would be tasteless if SALT is absent. No matter the quantity and quality of other preferred condiments added, the meal still looses a peculiar taste when SALT is not included or is not put in sufficient quantity.
Besides seasoning of foods, another use that SALT has been found for is preservation. Equally amongst most cultures, foods such as fish and meat are been salted as a means of preservation. What the SALT does really is to take away the moisture from the food substance making it impossible for microbial life to exist on the food. These microbes are responsible for the spoilage. So to preserve foods over longer periods before their ingestion, SALT is used.
Scripturally, the first mention of SALT was when Lots wife looked back against the instruction of the angel assigned to evacuate them out of the soon-to-be-destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, probably because of the huge loss of her worldly possessions left behind destroyed in the land and she was henceforth turned into a pillar of SALT as a penalty for her disobedience. (Gen. 19:26)
Moving forward, we see Elisha's second miracle after the departure of his master Elijah in a chariot of fire into heaven, after he struck the river Jordan with Elijah's mantle that fell off him and the river parted, he stayed back at Jericho (after the sons of the prophets pressed him hard to permit them to raise a search team for his master Elijah that perhaps the whirlwind had deposited him on some mountain), then the men of the city came to Elisha complaining about the conditions of the water flowing through their land and Elijah ordered that a new cruse be brought to him and salt be put into it, so he then cast the SALT at the spring of the water and it was healed, death and barrenness defeated (2Kings 2:20-21).
Now JESUS in Matt. 5:13 says we are the salt of the earth”
Questions one could ask from all this is that are we to serve as a sign to show the punishment for the utter disobedience of the world to the leadings of GOD as it was for Lots wife OR we are to be a repairer of the decay and death that reigns upon the earth as was depicted by Elisha in the healings of the waters at Jericho? Perhaps HE also meant that as salt sweetens food, we as believers should also be a source of joy and positive inspiration to this mournful world OR maybe a salt is useful for preservation, it becomes our assignment to ensure continual sanity and expression of life upon the earth.
Truthfully, all these we have been called into. As believers, it is our responsibility to be a loud voice declaring as a sign the disobedience of this world to the instructions of GOD to live righteously and holy. As believers also, we should through our obedience of the Lord restore life to the death in this world. Mark 16:17-18 gives a clear picture of some of the deliverance believers are responsible for in this world. Prov. 10:11a also confirms same of how believers should ooze life. Prov. 15:6a says that in the house of the righteous is much treasure and for sure with treasure comes joy and we equally always have the name of the Lord as our strong tower wherein safety is and joy always. So should be the case with believers. We should bring sweet joy from our Lord into this world. Finally, the onus lies upon us Christians to ensure that the intent of creation (fellowship) is not lost amongst the earth. The Lord intends to commune with all of mankind and the assignment of reconciliation back to the Father (2Cor. 5:18) and soul winning (Matt. 28:18-20) has been committed to believers.
Another very important point of discussion and cogent priority is the idea of SALT loosing it saltiness. When this happens, there seems to be no remedy, but it is only good to be thrown out and trodden under the feet of men. I believe so strongly that this signifies the loss of position or relevance in the scheme of things the Lord is aiming at achieving through believers. Whenever believers decide to go astray from the instructions of the Lord to live holy, rebuke the world of sin and reconcile men back to the Father, they cease to serve the purpose of their calling.
Friends, this speak to us that in the eternal assignment that the Lord commits into our hands on a daily basis should be fulfilled and we must make a full proof of our ministries (2Tim. 4:5) because herein is our continual  relevance before the Almighty guaranteed.
GOD BLESS YOU
