LAST RESORT

THE LAST RESORT

The word Resort is these days used as tahe name for a place of relaxation, a place where one could go and unwind, stay away from the hustle of daily life. More like a place free from stress, where all troubles seem to end, or at least the troubles seem no more existent at the resort. A resort in general terms is a form of refuge, this could be a place, a person, an organization, a status etc, anything you just find comforting away from availing problems.

If at any time you identify something, a place or person that you run towards in the times of challenges and you can certainly get relief, that place is for you a RESORT.

Tony is a student who struggles with understanding a particular topic, who after many attempts at private study, he now identifies a colleague who has better clarity on the subject matter, he quickly reached out to such a person and gets clarity, his challenge is solved, that individual becomes a RESORT for struggling Tony. When Tony has a financial challenge, he quickly puts a call through to his sponsor whenever such a need arises, either his parents or guardians, such person has become a RESORT for Tony's money needs. Tony falls sick, he is rushed to the hospital and was diagnosed of asthma, and was told by the medical personnel that he would henceforth have to have an inhaler close by whenever he had "an attack", so at every "attack" he reaches out quickly to get his inhaler and receives sanity back, this inhaler becomes a RESORT for ailing Tony.

When a challenge arises in one's life, there is many times an urgency to get such challenge solved, various options are usually explored all in a bid to stop this challenge. Many are unlucky to find this relief in the hands of the devil through ritual herbalists who would obviously make things seem easy for a while but the final consequences are very devastating.

One who through hard work and diligence over time would by GOD'S plan enjoy the very best life has to offer would because of the need to enjoy immediate success would then prefer to seek help through ritual making to make wealth, he would assume that solace from poverty has been attained but forgetting that the devil is not known to be one who gives anything freely, and such an individual would surely pay for all he has received even more eventually and death becomes only the hiding place for such a person. A woman seeks the gift of a child and hence consults with a witch doctor, and he does some concoctions for her to eat and the devil offers her a child, yes the shame of barrenness no longer attends her but the child is of the devil and would certainly grow up as such, becoming a terror to the parents which in some cases could eventually cost them their lives.

As children of GOD, the above illustrations shouldn't be identified with us. For us our only RESORT out of all the challenges life could throw at us should be in JESUS.

John. 15:21-28 gives a narration that is very important to the study today. Jesus met with a woman who had her daughter being vexed by a devil, causing both the child and the mother serious discomfort.  She pleaded with the Lord JESUS to help heal her daughter, but being of a tribe outside the people of GOD, Jesus replied her that He wasn't supposed to give what was meant for sons to dogs, a statement which was supposed to be a sure "turn-off" for her but since she had already concluded in her mind that JESUS was the Last RESORT for the salvation/deliverance of her daughter, she urgently replied that "even though dogs shouldn't be eating the food meant for sons, the dogs still were able to be fed from the crumbs which fell off the children's table". JESUS heard this and was pleased at the level of Faith she had in His ability to heal her daughter and as a result, the girl received immediate healing.

Another great narration is found in Mark. 10:46-52 about a man called blind Bartimaeus, this adjective followed his name because he was blind, a condition he planned to refuse as soon as possible. He heard the procession of JESUS through where he stood and decided that this obviously was his last RESORT, and hence made his voice far louder than the processing crowd, shouting in verse 48 asking that JESUS should have mercy on him, seeing that JESUS is not one that would ignore any on who cries out to Him for help quickly turned aside and asked that he was brought forth and He then asked what Bartimaeus wanted really and unlike many of us today who really don't know what we want in life, he asked that his eyesight be restored and JESUS did it...HALLELUYAH

Another very good example I would like to identify from the scriptures is that of the woman with the issue of blood in Mark. 5:25-34, this condition had been with her for 12 years and still counting, she had spent all her life savings on doctors thinking that they would be a good enough RESORT away from the pain and shame that this condition brought but it wasn't so. She then in a moment of divine inspiration thought to herself that if she was able to take up the risk of being found in the midst of people as one who shouldn't be found in gatherings and force her way through the massive crowd that followed JESUS's processions and was lucky enough to touch the helm of His garments that she would be made whole and this was her testimony. She didn't assume that touching Jesus's garment was going to be another RESORT but she concluded to herself that this was the Last RESORT and so it was for her as she received a seizure of the flow of blood.

Our GOD is always willing to stretch out to us His hands of help to help alleviate whatever issues or challenges we might be facing on a day to day basis. Many people look to other human beings for help, the reason why many are disappointed is not because the helper doesn't want to help but is simply because he is not able to help. You ask someone to help you get a job, he wants to and perhaps has connections in high places to land you the job even in record time, but all of a sudden, nothing seems to work out and he can't get the job.

This could never be the case for our GOD, He is willing to save, He is also able to save.
For Christians today, this should be a reason to celebrate, knowing that when we make the Lord JESUS our only RESORT, when we make Him our support and succor through all of life's issues, He is able to save us entirely. So what is that challenge that you are faced with today, what is that thing that seems all so much as a great wall that you don't seem to be able to find your way around it, remember that by simply acknowledging GOD,  the Isrealites brought down the great wall of Jericho, acknowledge GOD in your life today and let Him set you free from whatever it is that holds you bound.

Sin is a barrier, infact a major bondage that refuses us from accessing the best plan of GOD for us, it simply keeps us locked in, in a place where the devil is in charge but JESUS can set us free and show us what really our lives was intended to be. So whatever the situation be, call upon the name of JESUS today, make Him your LAST RESORT and you will be glad you did.

GOD BLESS YOU.
