CHOICES

 CHOICES

A choice is an option, a decision, an opportunity to select something. A selection or preference, that which is decided upon and the outcome of a decision.

For a choice to be made, various similar options must have been made available from the batch in which the chooser would make a decision on and pick from. Many times a good knowledge of that which you favour as your choice is very important because if after making your choice you then identify faults, the regrets would be quite painful. For example when choosing an apple from a basket with the hope of selecting a good one.

We make choices everyday. Starting from when we wake up, some even make a choice as to when to wake up from bed, choice on the cloth to wear, what food to eat, choices on various decisions throughout the day. How our day plays out has a huge influence from the choices we decide upon as the day goes on. If you choose to wear a white dress out on a rainy day, do equally plan to have it easily stained with mud as vehicles fly past you and land into potholes filled with water splashing it all over your carefully ironed dress.

As a student you would need to make a choice whether or not to attend classes, have comprehensive course notes and study hard if at the end of the session your decision isn't to fail woefully. As a youth seeking a life partner, a good choice must be made if the intention in marriage isn't to endure but rather to enjoy married life. It is common saying that "He who fails to plan, has planned to fail." All in all, the choices you make or refuse to make could make or mar destiny fulfilment and progress through life.

On a more important note, one decision you would need to make (TODAY) if you haven't yet made it yet already, is a choice on whether or not to proceed out of the darkness of sin into the glorious light of righteousness. GOD gave us the ability to make choices, He also didn't leave us helpless but He gave to us the Holy Spirit to help in guiding our thoughts so that eventually whatever decisions we take when guided is the best one.

1 Peter  2:9 - "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"

We all lost our place of fellowship with the FATHER when Adam sinned in the garden of Eden placing us into thick darkness as we became slaves of sin, sold out to do its every dictates, and GOD'S ultimate plan of redemption out of this savage slavery exists only in JESUS. So the first most important choice to be made in the life of a man has to be the choice to accept His LIFE SACRIFICE made for you and understand that the life which you now live, you live in trust for He who gave His life in order to save you (Gal. 2:20).

Joshua  24:15 - "And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

Joshua came to a point in time during his life amidst all other options offered him that He had to make a choice between serving the LORD or the gods of the foreign land and He declared very publicly amidst all the people without any iota of doubt that as touching himself and his family, they would serve the LORD, understanding clearly that union with the LORD is LIFE and outside Him only speaks death. (Deuteronomy  30:19)

Now as soon as you have made the best decision of your life in accepting the LORD JESUS into your life as Lord and personal saviour, the next best choice you need to take is to grow in Him daily (Eph. 4:15) as opposed to a refusal to grow. How shameful and irresponsible it would be for a Christian who haven given his life to JESUS for many years running still finds himself meddling with the rudiments of the Faith.

The expectation of GOD towards us is that after we become sons in the family of GOD (John. 1:12) and jointheirs with Christ in GOD (Rom. 8:17), we no longer be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine (Eph. 4:14), but be properly grounded in the things of GOD, (eating meat - Heb. 5:14) so as to attain the fullness of that which the LORD has in store for mature sons.

In conclusion friends, Philippians  4:8 - "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." GOD BLESS YOU
