Surely something has to be started before it can be completed. The great work, the ultimate assignment of redemption, returning sons of GOD to the originally intended position of fellowship with the FATHER was at that point on the cross of Calvary, complete for all eternity, nothing short, nothing more...HALLELUYAH
Right from the fall by Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, the point where the initial plan of the FATHER to create man in His image in order to have rapport with us was hindered, even from that time has the Lord in His magnificience sought out methods to see us being recovered back to His love but in each time, we still drew farther away from His love.
Seeing that for the remission of sins, blood must be shed (Hen. 9:22), the old testament ruled that for a particular sin, a particular non-blemish animal was killed and it's blood would serve as the atonement for such offence. The books of Leviticus and Numbers are equally loaded with detailed information on sin-offences and animal-blood payments and even the detailed methods for the atonement to be carried out.
All these rules and blood sacrifices couldn't fulfil the assignment of remission simply because man grew in wickedness and the atonement didn't really deal with the sin nature in man but rather was a "cover-up" for any sins that the individual committed and once that part is complete another sin-activity would be promptly ventured into without any form of remorse about the just recently conducted atonement for sin. All in all, the nature of sin which produced the sins in man was still very much alive so it simply just becomes a recycled process of sin, atonement and back to sin yet again.
In the final perfect plan of GOD to end this infamous routine of mankind, GOD sent to us the more perfect, sinless, non-blemish sacrifice of His only begotten son, JESUS to come to die for the sins of the whole world. He knew no sin, infact His conception was divine, one of the Holy Spirit, He stood as the perfect sacrifice such that at His dying, we all would by believing henceforth be launched into a new scheme of Godliness for anyone who would now believe in His death on your behalf, such person would now receive eternal redemption back to the position of love and fellowship initially intended for us by GOD.
JESUS came into this human world and spent over thirty years doing the business of teaching men about the eternal plan of redemption by GOD for us, preaching the forgiveness of sins, He worked signs and wonders, preached with authority, delivered many from various activities and even declared without mincing words that for as many that believed in Him would be able to do far more greater works than that which was brought forth by His hands for them to see (John 14:12).
Still in all this good that He did in their eyes, men crucified Him unknown to them that they were simply fulfilling the ultimate redemption plan of GOD (1Cor. 2:8), their reason perhaps being that they really didn't understand of what type His kingdom was, if He was there to overthrow Ceasar or not but obviously His plans superceded their thoughts and the devil surely fuelled their hearts and JESUS was led out all the way to Golgotha to be crucified on a tree - the cross of Calvary.
Here on the cross, the Lord JESUS finally completed the assigned task. That for as many that would believe in Him would never have to perish or be tormented any longer in the hands of the devil but would henceforth have and enjoy life eternal (John. 3:16).
Now the expectation is quite simple and it remains that you BELIEVE that for you, that it is on your behalf, that the Lord JESUS was CRUCIFIED for the sins He never committed but for your sins (1John. 2:2), that for you he DIED so that you may enjoy life eternally (Gal.5:1), still for you He was BURIED ending the life of sin (Rom. 6:6), for your case He RESURRECTED seeing that death couldn't hold Him captive (Acts. 2:24), speaking to us again that sin shouldn't hold us bound and finally still yet for your cause He ASCENDED to the right hand of the FATHER continually giving you access to GOD (Eph. 2:18; 3:12), an access that we lost in the garden of Eden, an access which the blood of rams and birds couldn't recover back for us, by believing in JESUS we recover it all. HALLELUYAH
This all was done for us free of charge, we didn't need to put up any charades to receive any of it, our salvation is simply by GRACE - Grace simply meaning GOD'S ability made available by GOD for us to do GOD'S will.
We couldn't ever get to serve or honour GOD entirely on our own but yet we have been rendered the great privilege of being able to do so by the gift of salvation given to us, hence the need to believe in JESUS, because if one decides to not believe in JESUS but tries to live morally, dts all he can get, MORALITY not RIGHTEOUSNESS. I repeat again as a matter of emphasis that you can only become righteous in the sight of GOD by your believing in JESUS.
The salvation we received is free, nothing to be deposited and nothing charged. Now this statement seems highly incomprehensible by many because of the trend of the world that we are living in which says you have to give something to receive something but I say to you that if at all you must give something to receive something as per the gift of salvation, all you have to give is your believing that He went all the way to Calvary for you and that your nature of sin has being crucified with Him at Calvary (Rom. 6:6) and that the life that you now live, you are able to live it in trust for the one who redeemed you (Gal. 5:24, 2Cor. 5:15), and like you would do to anything else that is kept in your trust, you guard it jealously to ensure that no wrong gets to it, wrong in this case meaning sin and unrighteousness, things you would need to stay far away from.
IT IS FINISHED...This is a statement of authority, every challenge for life away from the sin-death grasp is finished, torments by the devil as a result of our prior sin nature is finished (Gal. 5:24), fear as a result of the devil is finished (Matt. 10:31), sickness is finished (1Peter 2:24), poverty is finished (Phil. 4:19), failure is finished (Phil. 4:13) in JESUS name. AMEN
