“ON THE CROSS”
This is Easter, a season to commemorate our essence as Christians because if the Lord JESUS wasn’t crucified. died, was buried, resurrected and ascended, our faith is vain, empty, useless.
Our Lord JESUS CHRIST was crucified on this day that we are celebrating today.
Pilate tried Him and found Him guiltless but Pilate in order to keep his job and the kingdom he was ruling over under check, permitted that JESUS be crucified after being heavily insulted, spat upon, whipped flesh-thrashing whips, given a crown of thorns and made to carry a heavy wooden cross all the way up the hill to Golgotha.
In all these, the Lord JESUS never for once put up any form of resistance, going all the way like a lamp going to the slaughter all so that He could render Himself as an acceptable sacrifice freeing me and you from the shackles of sin and death by His ultimate sacrifice.
For sin to be forgiven, blood must be shed (Heb. 9:22). For a perfect blood sacrifice to be rendered for purification, the sacrifice must be without any form of blemish as the Lord JESUS was. (1Peter 1:19).
Matt. 26:28 - For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
Today being Easter Sunday and within the next few weeks we would be considering in no particular order, the words said by JESUS whilst He was on the cross, and by the help of the Holy Spirit we would be gaining indepth knowledge from each one of these words as the weeks go by, so I also encourage that you can spend some time on the words before we commence these teachings so all can be carried along properly and better questions and comments could be shared.
"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do.”…Luke 23:34.
"Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise"….Luke 23:43.
"Woman, behold thy son!... Behold thy mother!"...John 19:26–27.
"Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?"...Matt. 27:46.
"I thirst"….John 19:28.
"It is finished:"…John 19:30.
"Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit:"…Luke 23:46.
For the work of the cross to have any meaning in and for your life, here’s what you need and should do, believe in the fact that for you the Lord JESUS was crucified, died, was buried, He resurrected on Easter day and ascended into heaven for you, confess Him as Lord and Saviour (Rom. 10:9) and live henceforth in the knowledge that the life you now live is one lived in trust for Him (Gal. 2:20).
Accept this sacrifice for you today and experience what glory your life was really intended to show forth.
IT PAYS TO SERVE JESUS, THIS MUCH IS TRUE.
GOD BLESS YOU.
